‘Na ketekete qele’is a dramatised version of a legend. It’s about how an island was formed, typical of how some other islands in Fiji are told to have been formed, in this case the island of Naigani. Infused into this itukuni is the ‘sakuka’ character, an irritating and comic impersonator of the chief’s son. Vision, Mission and Mandated Objectives

INTRODUCTION

The iTaukei Trust Fund Board (TTFB) was established by the Fiji Government to foster advancement of the indigenous Fijians and Rotumans and assist in their long - term, economic, social, and cultural, community and political development.

VISION STATEMENT

To be the leading vehicle through which the BLV can fulfil its role to uplift the well being of Fijians and Rotumans through prudent management of funds.

MISSION STATEMENT

To invest the FTFB funds that will earn superior returns while complying with the iTaukei Trust Fund Act and to enhance the medium and long term value of the trust in order to:

- Ensure complete and continuing financial independence of the BLV

- Promote initiatives that will better the standard of living and enhance appropriate cultural traditions and values of Fijians and Rotumans.

USP Fijian Studies Program

USP and TTFB Partnership

Sharing a common interest in fostering the advancement of indigenous Fijians led to the signing of the MOU in 2010, between the Vice Chancellor and President of the University of the South Pacific, and Chief Executive Officer of the iTaukei Trust Fund Board.  The aim of this project is to support Fijian Studies at USP and to promote Fijian language, culture and heritage.

The Institute of Fijian Language and Culture A pioneering work in many ways, the monolingual Fijian Dictionary is the first ever of its kind to be produced in Fiji.The iTaukei Trust Fund Board funded the publication of 350 hard-bounded copies in 2005.
